About HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS is a disease that affects everyone. It is not a gay disease - anyone can be infected, whether they are gay, straight, white, black, Hispanic, young, or old. Young people are one of the most at-risk populations: about half of all new infections, two million cases per year, are people who are between fifteen and twenty-four. Every minute, six people between the ages of five and twenty-five are infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Young women, particularly young women of color, are the fastest growing group of infected individuals.
